Madi a Thavha, meaning “water from the mountains”, is set in a beautiful and quiet valley of the Soutpansberg Mountains, only 10 km drive from the centre of Louis Trichardt (Makhado). Indigenous bush characterises the landscape. Many velvet monkey’s and baboons live around the lodge. On the Madi a Thavha birding lists are more then 100 bird species. The lodge gives you an excellent base to spend a few days to explore the Venda and Tsonga culture, myths and legends and to discover unspoiled nature of the Soutpansberg and Limpopo valley. The lodge carries many sign of the involvement of the owners in local culture: all rooms are tastefully decorated with local arts and crafts, produced in a cooperation between the local people and the lodge. In the art centre all information on local culture is clearly displayed and in the shop many of these items can be purchased.

Full day guided Cultural Elim Tour including pick nick
This tour introduces you to colourful Elim and surrounding villages where you visit the workshops of a wide variety of artists and crafters. Since many places are not that easy to find the lodge caters for a local tour guide. Transport and a pick-nick lunch are included.
