Cape Town

Day 1, 2 and 3

On arrival at Cape Town Airport you pick up your rental car and you can start exploring the South African Cape. The next three days you can explore Cape Town and surroundings at leisure. The hop-on-hop-off bus is a perfect way to explore the city. It stops at a great number of sites like Tafelberg, Boulders Beach, Victoria & Albert Waterfront, beautiful Camps Bay and more. The old centre of Cape Town is also a must-see which can easily be done on foot. A drive via the impressive Chapman’s Peak is also an option and don’t forget Robben Island, the place where Nelson Mandela was imprissoned for many years.

There is a choice of lovely restaurants and bistro’s that allow you to enjoy many types of food and where you can take in the pleasant atmosphere of this city.

Hermanus

Day 4

Today you drive via a breathtaking route towards Hermanus. You pass Betty’s Bay where you have a chance to see the pinguins at Stony Point. Hermanus is famous for its whales, that you can see swimming into the bay from the shore. In the afternoon you take to the sea to see the whales from close-by (in season June-November).

The wine route “Heaven and Earth” is worth a visit. This beautiful road allows you to taste wine or have lunch at one of the well known wine houses.

Franschhoek

Day 5 & 6:

On day 5 and 6 you continue your journey to the world famous wine lands of South Africa. Via a beautiful route you drive towards Franschhoek, a pleasant village in the middle of the wine areas with age old vineyards and great “Cape Dutch” architecture. You can explore the village and its surroundings on your own or you can make use of the “Wine Tram” that stops at various vineyards.

Franschhoek is also a cullinary highlight. Over the years Franschhoek has gained the reputation of being the “Cullinary Capital”; there are numerous restaurants and terraces to enjoy.

On day 6 you will visit “Bosch & Dal”‘ a world famous vineyard, where you will enjoy a great picknick lunch.

Stellenbosch, Cape Town

Day 7 and 8

In the morning, after breakfast, it is time to travel to Stellenbosch, one of the oldest cities in South Africa. It is only a short drive. During the afternoon you take part in a “Bike & Wine tour”, a unique and pictoresque bike tour that allows you to explore the area in a completely different way. In 3 hours you will bike a distance of 9 km’s on firm sand roads and make a stop at 2 wine farms to taste their wines. Mountain bike, helmet and snackpack (water and nuts) included.

On the last day you travel back to Cape Town where you return you car at Cape Town Airport, in time for your trip home. Hopefully with enough memories to look back on for a long time.

Leshiba Wilderness

Day 16, 17 and 18

Your last three days will be spent at Leshiba Wilderness, a rebuilt Venda village in the Soutpansberg. One activity per day (game drive or bush walk) is included.

Distance from Madi a Thavha to Leshiba: 45,7 km. Drive time: 0.54 + 30 min. transfer up the mountain .

Your last day!

Today is the last day of your journey. You are transferred down the Leshiba mountain which takes 30 minutes and you hit the road for the drive to Johannesburg.

Distance from Leshiba to O.R. Tambo: 457 km. Drive time 4.40 hrs + 30 minutes transfer down hill.
